FIRE ECOLOGY OR ADAPTATIONS : 
American beautyberry probably survives fire by sprouting from the root
collar.  However, its primary mode of regeneration after fire is through
a seedbank [4,15].


POSTFIRE REGENERATION STRATEGY : 
   Tall shrub, adventitious-bud root crown
   Ground residual colonizer (on-site, initial community)
   Initial-offsite colonizer (off-site, initial community)
