ABBREVIATION : QUEDUM SYNONYMS : NO-ENTRY SCS PLANT CODE : QUDU COMMON NAMES : Nuttall's scrub oak California scrub oak TAXONOMY : The currently accepted scientific name of Nuttall's scrub oak is Quercus dumosa Nutt. Nuttall's scrub oak hyridizes with scrub oak (Q. berberidifolia Liebm) [23]. The name Q. dumosa has been misapplied to Q. berberidifolia [23]. Older literature usually does not distinguish between the two species, and it is sometimes impossible to determine to which species older literature is referring. Consequently, this write-up includes only that information on "Q. dumosa" reported from areas within the distribution of Nuttall's scrub oak as described by Hickman [23].
