The primary associates in the shrub layer include American yew (Taxus canadensis), mountain maple (Acer spicatum), and honeysuckle (Lonicera canadensis). Ground layer associates include yellow beadlily (Clintonia borealis), northern clubmoss (Lycopodium annotium), twinflower (Linnea borealis), woodfern (Dryopteris disjuncta), naked miterwort (Mitella nuda), alpine circaea (Circaea alpina), wild sarsaparilla (Aralia nudicaulis), and red raspberry (Rubus idaeus var. strugosis) [19].
