ABBREVIATION : VACVIT SYNONYMS : NO-ENTRY SCS PLANT CODE : VAVI VAVIM COMMON NAMES : mountain cranberry northern mountain cranberry lowbush cranberry TAXONOMY : The currently accepted scientific name of mountain cranberry is Vaccinium vitis-idaea Linnaeus (Ericaceae) [6,106,107]. Vaccinium vitis-idaea ssp. minus (Lodd.) Hulten is the only recognized subspecies occurring in North America [54]. In some areas, mountain cranberry hybridizes with dwarf bilberry (V. myrtillus) [1].
