Rafflesia Arnoldii – The World’s Largest Flower
Rafflesia Arnoldii is a member of the genus Rafflesia. It is noted for producing the largest individual flower on earth. It has a very strong and horrible smell of decaying flesh that why it is also called as “Corpse Flower”. It is found to the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra.
It is one of the three national flowers in Indonesia. The flower of Rafflesia arnoldii grows to a diameter of around 1 meter (3 ft) and weight up to 11 kg. This flower grows only in primary rainforests. This plant produces no leaves, stems or roots. It can only be seen when it is ready to reproduce.
