Yugoslavia GEOGRAPHY
Size: Approximately 255,804 square kilometers.
Topography: Two principal regions. Successive mountain
ranges run parallel to Adriatic coast, from Austrian border
(northwest) to Greek border (southeast), occupying entire
southern half of country. Second major region Pannonian Plains,
occupying northeast section, extending from Austria (north) to
Romania (east).
Climate: Generally temperate but varies from moderate
Mediterranean along Adriatic coast to colder continental
conditions in mountains and plains of east-central and northern
sections of country.
