Japan Miscellaneous Schools
In 1991 there were about 3,400 predominantly private
"miscellaneous schools," whose attendance did not require
uppersecondary school graduation. Miscellaneous schools offer a
variety
of courses in such programs as medical treatment,
education, social
welfare, and hygiene, diversifying practical postsecondary
training
and responding to social and economic demands for certain
skills.
