Prizren[prEz´ren] Pronunciation Key, city (1991 pop. 92,303), S Serbia and Montenegro, in the Kosovo region of Serbia. It is a commercial center with industries that produce textiles, wood products, and filigree silver jewelry. Prizren is the seat of a Roman Catholic archbishop and of an Orthodox Eastern bishop. An important medieval trade center, the city reached its height as capital (137689) of Serbia under Stephen Dusan, who is buried in a nearby monastery. In Prizren are numerous ancient churches and monasteries, some in ruins.
