wheat-raising area of SW Man., Brandon has an extensive trade in farm
prods. and machinery. Also grain; hogs, cattle; fertilizer. Publishing.
Seat of the annual provincial exhibition and of the Man. Winter Fair. A
govt. experimental farm adjoins the city. Seat of Brandon Univ. Named
for the old Hudson's Bay Co. post, Brandon House, built in 1793.
