Fort McClellan
, military base (1990 pop. 4,128), Calhoun co.,
NE Ala., just N of Anniston. Hq. of the Army Military Police and
Chemical Regiments; research and development center for chemical and
biological weapons. Three military museums are located on Fort
McClellan: the Military Police Corps Regimental Mus., the Army Chemical
Corps Mus., and the Women's Army Corp Mus. Fort McClellan was
recommended for closure by the Base Realignment and Closure committee
in 1995.
