and Eastern rivers, Damariscotta and Medomak inlets. Formed 1760. Maine
Yankee Nuclear Power Plant, initial criticality October 23, 1972, is
10 mi/16 km N of Bath, uses cooling water from
the Back R., and has a max. dependable capacity of 860 MWe; was
temporarily closed for repair in 1995.
